Functional medicine for children and teenagers is a caring, whole-person approach that looks beyond symptoms to understand what your child truly needs to thrive. Instead of just addressing what’s wrong in the moment, we work alongside families to nurture a strong foundation for optimized health—supporting your child’s growth, resilience and well-being now and for years to come.
"Doctor Adams is so kind and easy to talk to. For the first time, I felt like a doctor truly listened and cared. She helped me find the root cause of my ulcerative proctitis and has supported me every step of the way. I’ve noticed such a big difference in how I feel, and I’m so thankful to finally have the help I needed. She truly cares about her patients and their overall health — not just a quick fix, but long-term healing."

Precision Medicine
We use a variety of advanced tests to better understand what’s really going on beneath the surface of your child’s symptoms. This may include blood work, as well as, tests that evaluate important health markers like: food sensitivities, gut health, hormones, and genetic testing. By putting the pieces together, we can find the root causes and create a care plan that truly supports your child’s health and well-being.

Discovery Call
This phone call with Dr. Adams is perfect for you if you have questions about how your specific case would be approached. Or if you have questions about the practice in general and how it may be different from other experiences you have had.
This step is optional. No direct medical advice is given at this appointment.
Foundational Assessment
Our one-time assessment is the first step in getting to the heart of what’s affecting your child’s health. Before your visit, we’ll order lab work so we can review the results together. During the assessment, you’ll meet with Dr. Adams for a 90-minute consultation, followed by a supportive visit with our dietian. Together, we’ll explore any underlying imbalances that may be contributing to your child’s symptoms, and you’ll leave with a personalized plan that includes lifestyle guidance and supplement recommendations. This assessment is required to begin care at NOLA functional medicine, and it gives families a clear roadmap to start their healing journey.

Ongoing Membership
This is where the deep work occurs. With our 12 month membership, you receive regular appointments with Dr. Adams, as well as our dietitian.
You will feel supported as we peel back the layers to the drivers of your child’s symptoms or disease by utilizing a combination of advanced testing and balancing of the mind, body and spirit.
The membership model is designed to give your family ongoing support, guidance, and consistent communication.
The Functional Medicine model is an individualized, science-based approach that relies on a detailed understanding of each patient’s environmental, biochemical, and lifestyle factors, to create personalized treatment plans. By addressing root cause, rather than symptoms, practitioners may find one condition with many different causes and, likewise, one cause resulting in many different conditions. As a result, Functional Medicine treatment targets the specific manifestations of disease in each individual.
